I was born and raised in New York City to Hong Kong native parents. I am an American Born Chinese, who is still learning and loving the tradition of Chinese culture. Family is very important to me. To this day I still resides in the Lower East Side of New York City. After graduating from Fashion Institue of Technology with my Bachelor in Fine Arts, I went on to attend a one year long master's program. I have recently graduated from School of Visual Arts with my Master's in Art Teaching and is a New York State Certified Art teacher for grades K-12.

My first step to painting is to always lay out where I want certain colors to go. And no one same color is touching each other. When I am done with the colors I want to use and where I want to place it, I than take a bunch of acrylic mediums. The medium I use is “Molding Paste”; I would mix the colors in with the medium and start the process of the texture. I would add it to the canvas by a paint brush or palette knife, any thing I find convenient to use. I think that if my work did not have texture on it, it would not be complete to me. I think that having textures in a painting would always make the viewer wanting to touch it. I want viewers to touch my paintings. It does not matter if you are an artist or a random person on the streets, everyone always has the urge to touch things. This is why I paint the way I paint, and use the colors I do.

As I was reading up on Chinese paintings I notice that they have a narrow dimension. One of my past works was to incorporate some cultural influence, so I tried to paint on a canvas that was 24 inches by 48 inches. As I began to enjoy the narrowness of the canvas, I tried to even go narrower and longer. My recent paintings are on a narrow canvas about 14 inches by 54 inches. Majority of my recent work is full of bright colors and textures.

My style of painting has gradually changed with the artists that I have learned and like. Today, I have three artists that I like a lot. They are: Keith Haring, Elizabeth Murray and Stuart Davis. What these artists have in common, is their use of bright and bold colors, and the textures they have on their work. The texture helps make the art work look bolder and nicer; it also gives a dimension to it.
